Why Does It Say Your Book is 'Out of Print'?
I was so excited for October 31. I’d planned all of my events and promotional materials to hit on that exact day and the days following it, so that I could really hype up this amazing moment in my life when I became a published novelist.
But life is funny and things don’t always go as we expect.
Unfortunately, on November 1, I began noticing that booksellers like Amazon and Barnes & Nobles weren’t letting people order my book. Some websites said “Out of Print” or “On Backorder” or “Unavailable” or “Not available online.”
As you can imagine, I freaked out! People were asking me where they could buy the book and the only place I could I point them to was my publisher’s website. However, I know that people have their favorite booksellers and I didn’t want to limit them, so I reached out to my publisher, and here’s what’s going on:
A delay in editorial/production led to a delay in getting my books out from the printers to the booksellers. It sucks, but that’s where we are at. I’ve spoken with my publisher and we’re estimating that my book should become available online next week.
If you pre-ordered your book, please don’t cancel the order. I humbly ask that you patiently wait a little bit longer to receive your book so you can enjoy it on Thanksgiving break.
If you don’t want to wait, I am having another launch party in Dallas at Interabang Books on November 9 from 7-8 pm. There will ONLY be 30 copies available at Interabang so you’ll want to get there early.
If I sell out of all the Interabang books, I have ordered 30 more copies to sell following the event. I cannot guarantee or save any of those books until after Friday.
If none of those options work for you, you can order my book directly from my publisher, Arte Publico Press. Click here to order, but keep in mind that it might take 10 days to receive your book and shipping costs are a bit pricey.
You can also go to your local bookstore and have them order the book for you. I don’t know how long this will take, but bookstores have a lot of clout and by doing this you could actually assist me with getting my book in more local stores.
Last but not least, if you would like to provide me your email address, I will send an email out when the book becomes available again on Amazon, Books A Million, Barnes & Nobles, etc.
Please fill out the form at the end of this post! (Note: This will sign you up for my newsletter which will share other news about the book like sales, readings, giveaways, etc.)
Again, I apologize for the delay and I hope this doesn’t prevent you from buying my book. I APPRECIATE everyone who has provided me with so much love and support so far.
For those who bought the book at my Wichita Falls launch party, I would be grateful if you wrote an honest review on Amazon and/or Goodreads when you’re done.
Thank you again! Fingers crossed everything clears up sooner than later.
