A Starred Review on Kirkus Reviews

I was visiting Curacao when I received an email notifying me that I had a positive review coming out from Kirkus Reviews on my upcoming novel, SECRETS OF THE CASA ROSADA. I quickly read the review preview on my phone while at lunch, smiling as I did. The reviewer had picked up every nuance of my story and written a beautiful, succinct review of my novel.

I shared the good news with my companions and they were all excited for me. One woman in my travel group, who works in book reviews, mentioned the Starred Reviews of Kirkus Reviews. I had never heard of them before but she informed me that it was a big deal, an honor from Kirkus Reviews for books with exceptional merit. I believe she even said, "Those are the books they make movies based on."

Later when we returned to our hotel, I was scanning over the Kirkus Reviews preview and there in brackets I saw, [STARRED REVIEW!]. Those two words almost had me crying. Later when I told my travel companions, we toasted to this small victory with margaritas in the pool. I'm happy to say that the review has since come out and received a lot of love and praise from family and friends.

If you haven't checked it out, please click here to read the full review.

And as for that Starred Review, I'll let you know if I have a movie deal coming (fingers crossed!).
