Pegasus Reading Series

  • Deep Vellum 3000 Commerce Street Dallas, Texas 75226 USA (map)

Join us for this month's edition of Pegasus Reading Series. This month we feature Cassia Hameline, Emily Riggert, Alex Temblador, and Dashaun Washington!

About us: Pegasus Reading Series was founded and curated by the poets Robert Torres and Sebastian Paramo in 2014. When Torres left in 2015, Courtney Marie joined Sebastian to host & curate the series. In 2016, both poets joined forces to organize and curate Deep Ellum Lit Hop. In 2018, Mag Gabbert joined to co-host.

The mission of Pegasus Reading Series is to bridge together literary communities and writers in Dallas and across the nation.

Cassia Hameline is in her first year of the Creative Writing Doctoral program at UNT. Her past work has been published in print by the Utica Writer's Club, and online at Revolution House Magazine and the ReviewReview. When she's not writing, you can usually find her in the woods with her dog, Moab.

Emily Riggert is a multi-disciplinary artist from Dallas, Texas. Her artwork includes sculpture, writing, and social practice. Both her sculpture and her writing explore the interior milieu of domestic spaces and the sensory, emotional experiences of the self within a domestic environment. She is an educator in the Oak Cliff community through Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange and is Co-Founding Director of Sunset Art Studios, also located in Oak Cliff.

Alex Temblador is the Dallas-based author of Secrets of the Casa Rosada. After receiving her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Central Oklahoma, she became a freelance travel writer. Alex's travel articles have appeared in Fodor's Travel, Shermans Travel, Amuse (VICE), Oyster, TravelPulse, among many others. When Alex isn't writing about travel, she's working on her next novel or personal essays.

Dashaun Washington is a Massachusetts native and Dallas resident. He is the 2018 winner of the Robert Bone Memorial Poetry Prize. His work has appeared in Raleigh Review, Borderlands, Tinderbox, Reunion, Bluestem, among others. Dashaun is currently pursuing a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas.
